Chief of Medical Staff
Medical Director - KHAMH, A'Ali

Dr. Deepak Abraham moved to Bahrain to join the American Mission Hospital Network as the Chief of Medical Staff, and as the Medical Director of our newly established tertiary care centre, King Hamad American Mission Hospital, in A'Ali, 

He completed two decades as faculty and at the time of his move, he was the Senior Professor at the Department of Endocrine Surgery at Christian Medical College, Vellore. 

During his tenure there, he had completed a term as the Head of Department of Endocrine Surgery and as Associate Director of Human Resources, in 2020.

After completing his surgical training, he did his Clinical and Research Endocrine Oncology Fellowship at the University of Sydney Endocrine Surgery Unit in Royal North Shore Hospital from 2008 to 2010.

He also was awarded his PhD from the University of Sydney for his work on Identification of Gene and Gene Regulators in Sporadic Medullary Thyroid Cancer. His areas of interest include thyroid cancers, neuroendocrine tumors, parathyroid disorders, and adrenal tumors with emphasis on translational research.

With an interest in administration, he completed his MBA in health and hospital management from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in 2022. This was done to be better equipped for administration and leadership in healthcare.

He has a passion for teaching and is actively involved in undergraduate, postgraduate, and higher specialty training. His involvement with students in academic and personal development resulted in him being awarded the Best Teacher Award for the year 2016.

Due to his contributions to the Endocrine Surgery, he was awarded the Visiting Professor to the Endocrine surgery Section of the Annual Scientific Congress of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019. He strives to preserve and restore the humanness of medicine as well as practice medicine as a vocation.

Apart from his professional involvement, he serves as a facilitator for Haggai International as well as Lead like Jesus, India movement. He seeks to be a mentor to medical students and young graduates especially in the area of in career choices.
